Elucidation of the Evolutionary History of Asian Primates

Prosimians diverged in the Eocene and Oligocene in Asia.  Ancestors of anthropoids are also suggested to have originated, or diversified in Asia. As for humans, Homo erectus dispersed into Asia in the middle of the Pleistocene and so Homo sapiens would have dispersed between 100~70 thousand years ago into Asia to become modern humans. However, their evolutionary histories have not yet been fully elucidated in sufficient detail. For the elucidation of this evolutionary history, studies from diverse viewpoints are important, including the paleo-environment, paleo-climate, paleontology, ecology, social systems, morphology and genetics of extant primates.  Close examination of biological traits, biomolecular phylogenetic studies, demographic trends, and adaptation processes are also essential. New tools from emerging disciplines need to be introduced, such as genome science and bioinformatics need to be introduced to further our understanding even more.  For these kinds of studies to be successful, a synthetical research system is needed.
